MyPetGuid transparency
Editorial Policy
How we keep rankings separate from revenue.
Picks are decided on editorial grounds first; merchant links come after. Here is what that means in practice.
Last updated: July 2026
Our operating rules
Brands cannot buy rankings
No paid placements, badges, star ratings, or product positions.
We don't say tested unless tested
Hands-on testing gets labeled. Research-only picks stay labeled researched.
Tradeoffs are required
Every recommendation needs a catch, limitation, or best-fit context.
Corrections are welcome
Readers can report stale prices, broken links, product changes, or errors.
What brands can't do
- Buy rankings
- Buy badges
- Influence star ratings
- Hide tradeoffs
- Approve copy before publication
What readers can report
- Stale prices
- Broken links
- Outdated product claims
- Recalls or formula changes
- Factual errors
Editorial independence
Brands cannot buy rankings, badges, star ratings, or product placement on MyPetGuid — at any price, in any format. Rankings are set by our editorial process (How We Test) and business relationships cannot alter a published ranking.
Who is responsible
MyPetGuid is maintained by an editorial team focused on product research, specification comparison, owner-review analysis, and practical buying guidance. We don't publish invented author personas or borrowed credentials: accountability for every page rests with the editorial team, reachable at hello@mypetguid.com.
The affiliate relationship
The site earns affiliate commissions (full disclosure here). The order of operations is the firewall: picks and rankings are decided first, on editorial grounds; merchant links are attached afterward. Editors do not weigh commission rates when ranking, and if the best product has no affiliate program, it still wins and we link to it anyway.
Content standards
- No exaggerated medical claims. Health-adjacent content stays conservative, cites appropriate sources where possible (AAFCO statements, WSAVA guidelines, published veterinary guidance), and never replaces a veterinarian.
- No inflated evidence labels. A researched pick is labeled researched — never "tested." Definitions are public in How We Test.
- Tradeoffs are mandatory. When a product has a material catch — price, durability, fit — it appears in the review and on the product card, not buried.
- Prices must be fresh or absent. Stale prices are hidden automatically rather than shown possibly wrong.
Conflicts of interest
MyPetGuid does not accept sponsored posts, paid placements, free review units for ranked reviews, or brand gifts. If that policy ever changes, the affected pages will say so explicitly at the top — not in a footnote.
Corrections
If you spot an error, an outdated price, a broken link, or a product change, contact us at hello@mypetguid.com. Factual errors are fixed promptly; material corrections are noted on the page they affect.
AI assistance
We use software (including AI) to accelerate research — extracting specs, summarizing verified-buyer reviews, drafting comparisons. Every factual claim, price, and verdict is reviewed by the editorial team before publication.
Insurance & financial content
Anything touching pet insurance or budgeting is educational, not financial advice. Provider terms change; we date our information and always direct you to the provider for a binding quote.
